History of the Logan Temple

This temple was the second temple built in Utah. It was entirely built by volunteers from 1877 to 1884. The walls were originally painted to cover the dark limestone underneath. However, in the early 1900s, the paint was allowed to weather away to what it looks like today.

After its completion, President John Taylor dedicated it, and it remains to be the only one that was dedicated by him. After a renovation in the 1970s, the temple was renovated again in 2009. It replaced the 1970s water feature at the time for the reflecting pool you can see today.
